Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data Recast, Inc. collects through userecast.ai and through email sent to us, why, and what you can do about it. It does not cover data we process for a client under contract; that is governed by our agreement with the client, and we act on their instructions.

Who we are

Recast, Inc., a Delaware corporation, is the controller of the personal data described here. Questions or requests go to hello@userecast.ai.

What we collect

When you visit the site

  • Server logs. The servers that host the site record each request: your IP address, browser and device type, the page asked for, the referring page and the time. We use them to keep the site running and secure.
  • No cookies, analytics or tracking. The site sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, runs no analytics, and loads no advertising or third-party scripts. Fonts and images are served from our own domain.

When you email us

  • Enquiries. Your name, email address, company and whatever you write.
  • Experts applying for work. What you send us, such as your CV, work history, qualifications and licences. We may check professional registries to confirm qualifications you tell us you hold.

Why we use it, and on what basis

  • To reply to you and discuss working together: our legitimate interest in answering enquiries, or the steps you ask us to take before entering a contract.
  • To assess experts for projects: the steps you ask us to take before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in matching tasks to qualified people.
  • To run and secure the site: our legitimate interest in keeping it available and preventing abuse.
  • To meet legal obligations, such as keeping records or answering lawful requests from authorities.

We do not sell personal data, share it for advertising, or use it to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who host the site and run our email and storage, under contracts that limit them to processing on our instructions.
  • Professional advisers, such as lawyers and accountants, where needed.
  • Authorities, when the law requires it.
  • A buyer or successor, if the business is reorganised, merged or sold, under this policy's terms.

We do not share an expert's details with a client without telling the expert first.

International transfers

Some providers process data outside your country, including outside the European Economic Area and the UK. Where they do, we rely on an adequacy decision or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (and the UK addendum) to protect it.

How long we keep it

  • Server logs: only as long as needed to run and secure the site, then deleted.
  • Correspondence: as long as the conversation or relationship lasts, and afterwards only as long as we need it for legal or accounting reasons.
  • Expert applications: while we may match you to work. Ask us at any time and we delete them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • correct it, or delete it
  • restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it based on legitimate interests
  • send it to you or to another organisation in a portable format

Write to hello@userecast.ai. We answer within one month and may need to confirm who you are first. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work, but we would like the chance to put things right first.

California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information, and not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We do not sell or share personal information as the CCPA defines those terms.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls and least-privilege access to protect the data we hold. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the relevant authority as the law requires.

Children

The site and our services are not meant for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data, and we delete it if we find we have.

Changes

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we say so on this page.
